Handy information for owners!

All Xanthorrhoea are hardy, but owners do need to know how to care for them.

Some people think that being native, Xanthorrhoea should tolerate neglect,
but in fact it needs generous watering for at least the first two years in a new home,
and even when its roots are re-established regular watering should continue.

Water logged soil of course must be avoided as Xanthorrhoea demand good drainage.

They enjoy mulch but resent fertiiser, a commodity which would would not occur in the native bush.

Though shaving a plant or setting it alight can force it into flowering mode every year,
this is unwise as it will drain its energy.

Xanthorrhoea not subjected to stimuli will flower roughly on a five to seven year cycle.
